Background:
Each year since 2020, JNEF has hosted an Excellence Award ceremony to recognize and award scholarships to kids who have excelled in Math and English through evaluations recorded from the Pre-Assessment tests (to baseline their skills) and the Post Assessment Tests given each year to evaluate learning progress.
These Pre and Post assessment tests administered by the JNEF teachers in The Wasimi community villages of Lemo and Elekuro, where the JNEF after school tutorial programs are held in Ogun State.
The 2021 Award Ceremony:
For the Rural Tutorial initiative In 2021 we selected the top 2 students in Math and English, respectively from both Lemo and Elekuro villages to attend the award ceremony in Lagos. The idea was to give them a field trip to Lagos to and inspire them on what life outside the Rural communities were like. The kids got to visit Lagos, stay in a guest house with their teachers and go to see the domestic flight terminal (MM2 local), and the new Oshodi Bus terminal. This year, the Awards were attended by Late Mrs Namme’s son’s – Albert and Richard Namme, Engineer Sola George (family friend), Emeka Oragwu (representing the KC Alumni set of 88), the Ayinla Family, who are also champions of early childhood education and welfare.

Appreciation
This year’s event was a huge success. Now all the kids in their communities are inspired to study hard, so they can not only visit Lagos or go on a field trip at the end of the year, but also get some financial support towards their education.
From as little as $15 a month, you can Join the JNEF foundation to sponsor a child in one of our program and support.
